TSC Adds New TDP-324W Wristband and TDP-324 Label Desktop Printers

2014-06-06_0917TSC has added two new high-resolution printers, the TDP-324W wristband printer and the TDP-324 desktop printer, to its growing line of direct-thermal desktop products.

TDP-324W Wristband Printer

The two-inch-format TDP-324W is engineered to print high-definition wristbands used for patient identification, entertainment ticketing and various government applications, including restricted-area access and visitor identification.

Standard features include a 300-dpi printhead, a large 6.5-inch-diameter media cabinet, and an easy-to-read LCD that displays printer status. The TDP-324W can be operated either as a standalone desktop or wall-mounted printer and supports USB 2.0 and Ethernet communications. It also features a USB-host port for connecting keyboards or scanners.

KoamTac’s New KDC20 Miniature Bluetooth Laser Barcode Scanner

CAEN’s New qIDmini Keyfob Bluetooth UHF RFID Reader

qidminiCAEN RFID has announced the release of the new qIDmini, a keyfob sized Bluetooth UHF RFID reader of its easy2read family.

The qIDmini (Model R1170I) has an integrated antenna suited for short to medium range applications and, thanks to the Bluetooth communication interface, it is a perfect UHF RFID add-on for any Bluetooth enabled host such as a PC, a smartphone, a PDA or a tablet. The reader is compatible with Windows XP/7, Windows CE/Mobile, Android, iPhone and iPad.

It can operate both in wired mode, using a USB cable, or in wireless mode through the Bluetooth interface. The reader can also operate in “Batch Mode”, allowing to store EPC codes into the internal memory when the communication link (USB or Bluetooth) is not available.

Zebra’s New QLn Healthcare Series Portable Printers

Zebra has announced updates to its comprehensive healthcare portfolio, including its mobile specimen collection solution. The addition of the QLn Healthcare Solutions Series will expand the capabilities of the QLn220 and QLn320 mobile printers that ensure patient safety and lower the risk of mislabeling specimen samples. The QLn220 Healthcare and QLn320 Healthcare meet the specimen labeling standards of both the National Patient Safety Goals (NPSG) and the Clinical Laboratory Standards Institutes (CLSI).

Misidentification of specimen samples leads to tens of thousands of adverse events annually throughout the healthcare system. Socket Incorporates NFC in theirs SoMo 655

Socket SoMo 655 Mobile ComputerSocket has announced that commencing in June, its SoMo 655 handheld computer will be able to read and process information using Near Field Communications (NFC) technology.  NFC is an RFID technology enabling the wireless transfer of information at short range with extremely simple setup.

The SoMo 655 RFID Reader with NFC operates both as a reader and writer.  The SoMo 655 will read NFC High Frequency 13.56MHz contactless smart tags including those that are ISO/IEC 14443A and B compliant including Mifare and Sony FeliCa.  It will also read tags that are ISO 15693 compliant, EPC GEN 2 HF and ISO 18000-3 mode 3 compliant, and will read many other proprietary tags.  The RFID NFC reader plugs into the SoMo 655 handheld computer and enables single handed operations.  The model 6E2 RFID reader has a U.S. Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $225.00.  The model 6P2 is a combination RFID NFC reader and barcode scanner with a U.S. MSRP of $569.00.  The RFID Readers will be in black and antimicrobial white to match the SoMo 655 and 655Rx, respectively.

Star Micronics Broadens WebPRNT SP700 and TSP700II Product Range

Its unique ability to enable device-agnostic receipt printing by supporting HTTP requests used in web-based applications sets it apart from other receipt printers. WebPRNT is equipped with Ethernet connectivity. Easy to read, maintain and modify; developers simply use the appropriate XML tags or integrate Star’s WebPRNT Javascript library into their web-based application to print to Star’s WebPRNT receipt printer.

To meet customer demand, Star is adding SP700 (impact printing) and TSP700II (label printing) to its growing WebPRNT family.
