Unitech’s Newest 2D Scanner Additions – FC77 and FC75

2014-09-04_0814Unitech is launching the FC75 and FC77, two different hands-free scanners that offer unique features to customer-facing applications. They are currently available and will be showcased at Vartech 2014 in New Orleans next month.

Both devices are able to read 1D and 2D barcodes off screens quickly and aggressively, making them great for reading coupons and capturing payment on smartphones. Their powerful scan engines make it easy to capture data from any angle, and their compact design makes them easy to place on a front counter or somewhere behind the scenes.

Seagull Scientific’s BarTender 9.2 End of Support

In the process of making their BarTender software one of the leading label applications, Seagull Scientific is continually updating and improving  features in BarTender. As new versions are released previous ones eventually cannot continue to be supported. 

As of September 1st, 2014 version 9.2 of BarTender will no loner be supported. It is possible to upgrade to the current 10.1 version of the software with a simple update.

Zebra’s ZXP Series 7 New Enclosure Lock Option

Zebra’s fast and reliable ZXP Series 7 card printer will now offer a new enclosure lock option for applications requiring a secure printing environment.

A single key protects the printer and supplies from unauthorized use and locks the printer from several different access points:

  • The feeder cartridge lid is locked to prevent unauthorized access to cards and the cartridge itself is locked to the printer.
  • The options and ribbon cover are locked to prevent unauthorized access to the ribbon.
  • If the lamination module is present, the laminator cover is locked to prevent access to the laminates.

The lock option is only available on new units and cannot be upgraded in the field.
